I wanted to share a quick checklist of items to do in preparation for upcoming hurricane and high winds:
- Prepare ahead of time with an emergency kit and know what to do during and after the storm.
- Check your gutters and downspouts and clear them of any debris to prevent water damage.
- If you own a pick-up truck, please take the time to remove all open items from the bed of the truck.
- Secure loose items on balconies, patios or items in the yard. They should be removed or secured, i.e., garbage cans, decorations, etc.
- Keep phone numbers handy for your electric company, just in case you lose electrical service.
- Remember to charge your devices to make sure they are fully charged.
- Hopefully, your roof will survive the high winds. In the event of any leaks or other damage, please wait for the storm to be over, then secure the area and report the damage to your insurance company.
